It was the last day, yesterday, of Miami Street Photography Festival. By observing the beautiful images that were exhibited, I thought there was one missing. That of a talented photographer, a dear friend that left us a year ago : Matthew Lewis @matthewlewislewis . Matthew was not only an incredible inspiration to many of us. He was also a clever, gentle and sincere human being with a unique sense of humour, distributing unrestrainedly crisp comments to the photographers he was following. He was also a very generous mind and the first picture of this set of images, that I took in September 2017, is the proof if needed of his disposition to help the others. This image is a very special one to me: I took it with the help of Matthew. I wasn’t feeling comfortable in taking close portraits of people in the streets and wanted to learn how to do it. So I asked Matthew’s help, who, in my eyes, was a master of this kind. His warm and colourful portraits of this elderly especially are memorable! He accepted, of course, and spent quite a lot of time online with me that day to explain me how to do it. At the end of the day, he asked me to send him my selection, and the one I’m posting here was his favourite. He wanted me to dedicate it to him. He was very attentive to all details and he probably noticed on my picture the words written on the bus stop: ´L’instant M’ . Sadly, I chose another one for the tribute and I posted this image the day after. I needed to repair this error on my gallery and it is with great emotion that I do it today. And of course, I could not not do this tribute without showing two of my favourite pictures from him (the 2nd and 3rd ones), as well as the two pictures that Paulus @iso.null30 (4th one), his very special friend, and I (5th one), had the pleasure to have exhibited in Miami these last days. Because I’m sure he would have been very happy for us. Finally, how not include an image (6th one) of another of his very precious friend, Efi @efi_o ? Thank you so very much, Matthew, for all the inspiration and love you gave us through your wonderful images, kind comments and chats! With all my love and warmest thoughts to his lovely family!

You may have already seen my post with the “standing” version of this man (switch to see a slightly different one) taking the sun only on his arms. I had forgotten to post, immediately after, the “lying” version of it, taken a few hours later. Well... that’s done now, although it should have been presented in the reverse order!
